This game was great it took what zelda had done and tweaked it...the first time i played this was the week it came out in canada...my parents loved video games as much as i did...fuck my dad bought earthbound for himself and beat it before i did when it came out...the day i got this game i remember it perfectly my mom just came home from grocery shopping she bought it for me at i think zellers...anyway she also brought a pre-maid chicken from the deli....i sat down with a plate of some delicious chicken, macaroni salad, a bun, a fork...my snes controller and illusion of gaia...the parts i couldn't get through my dad either helped me or called the nintendo hotline...i was like 9 the vine level near the end was really hard and i really wanted all the jewels...ok!...i was fucking 9...hahaha

anyway great game...amazing memories that go along with it...thanks roo

Dis Game

I remember when I first played illusion of gaia. I was pretty young since I'm the type of nineties kid who was born in the nineties, but I fondly enjoyed that game and always wanted to play it again, but had long since forgot its name. Although it may be deplorable, I did get to play it again on an SNES emu and I honestly would say that it is one of  my favorite games.

I was about half way through the game recently and through a comedy of errors my game got erased. I've been meaning to put up the gumption get through it again.

Damn those SNES batteries and thier age!

Oooh, Illusion of Gaia. This was a great game, too. Short, but sweet.

this takes me back

When i was about 13 maybe 14 i ended up buying this game due to an ad in Gamepro.  Plus they included a 20 dollar off coupon.  When i eventually started playing it, I SUCKED.  I never realized at the time I had never played an RPG before.  I don't really call the first zelda an rpg.  I was used to platformers, sport games, and fighters (mortal kombat mainly), so this was a challenge, and I never really played it correctly.  It ended up getting so hard for me, I borrowed my friends game genie to help me out, cause I HAD to beat the game.  That got me further, but i ended up getting stuck at a spot where I couldn't get past an enemy, and I stopped playing.  I couldn't attack him, and he was litterally standing in the pathway, so I couldn't get past him.  I played this game for a LONG time too.  I got suspended from school, and played it the whole time, but i never beat it.  I think I'm going to take another shot at it now, now that I've had a better understanding of jrpg's for the last 10 years.  Sounds dumb as shit, cause ALL internet reviewers pop boners over rpgs, but I never played em as a kid, so playing this I never really understood what i was supposed to do.  This wasn't something I could sit down with a friend and play.  Great first review Roo, and I plan on takin this beast down!

I only recently played

I only recently played Illusion of Gaia (called Illusion of Time here in England) for the first time recently. I'm a big Zelda fan, and I was happy to see that Illusion of Time was an honourable Zelda-esque classic.

I played it when I was little...

I remember renting Illusion of Gaia (seems like ages ago) when I was 13, and I liked it. I never finished it but it was enjoyable, I remember most of all was switching for boy to knight dude often. I was more of a Zelda fan but that goes without saying, Roo did good job of bring back a game I played when I was just a wee little boy.

Good stuff :)

Cell Phone

Throughout the 2 minute mark you can hear interference that is your cell phone. It took me a while to figure out what that dat-datdatdat-datdatdat-datdatdat sound was on things, but it is indeed a cell phone. I can go into detail if anyone requires.
