I just recently made an account and this is my first post. Love the site and love all of your videos, I'll have to start commenting in the Weekly Wringers.
Anyway, today is April First, and if you've checked retrowaretv you'd know that Roo made a joke episode "8-Bit Gems" on North & South. It was a good review for a good (looking) game. Now I always imagined when I got older and a camera I would make some show on youtube about retro gaming. So original right? And with my unique form of originality I was gonna make a knock off 16 Bit Gems called 8 Bit Gems, mostly as a joke, but then see where it went. Seeing this I might not... but I probably wasn't anyway. What? Knock offs are good, HVGN is one of my favorite reviewers. I think Roo is funnier, but I love happy reviews that look at good games. I'm sick of only knowing about shit like 'Castlevania 2' (Yes that was a joke, I love CV2, but thta might be because I used a guide, and whats wrong with that? We're in the 21st century get used to it. And after hearing all the shit I guess I had my hopes low, but I honestly liked it. I went to the left at the begginign so I got all the strong weapons in the beggining so when I got to the dun... wait wait I am going way too off topic sorry) Anyway if you run out of 16 bit gems Roo, (which you never will) maybe you could make 8 Bit Gems? (I had a smily here but that screws up the spacing of my post) Or atleast maybe every April?
Yes this topic is a big bunch of nothing, but I guess you guys could use it to discuss 8 Bit Gems...
You may have taken 8 Bit Gems Roo... BUT I CALL DIBS ON 32 BIT GEMS!!!

Well, I too wish there were 8 bit gems...because i didn;t get to play 16 bit games, but I did play 8 bit games.

There are to many people that does the 8-bit era, the reason Roo stuck out was he did 16-bit systems.

I see what you mean, and before I ran into CotGW on Screwattack, I mostly only knew about the 8 bit systems. However, I have grown attatched to Roo being one of the few positive reviewers who dosen't jsut make fun of the game, and has a good nerdy sense of humor which I love.

Nothing against the 8-bit gems idea, but I think there are more "32-bit" gems hidden in the PSOne and Saturn Library.
That would be my second reason for watching Roo, as positive reviewers are harder to to find.
I can not think of any reviewer that does that era unless it was a popular game (aka Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, etc)
So I wouldn't mind Roo doing PlayStation/Saturn games, it would be better than going to 8-bit systems.

I TOTALLY agree with maybe trying some hidden 32 bit gems. especially Saturn. I'm tired of talking about some cool saturn game and have people look at me with blank stares or better yet go, "There's a good game on the Saturn?"
It gets OLD.

Well I do like the Happy Video Game Nerd, his review range is very wide and he can dip into any genra and generation he wants. So he probably won't dib into 32bit as much as someone devoted to 32 bit as Roo is to 16 bit.
oooh yeah I forgot about HVGN...
Might be the wrong topic for this, but if I had a Saturn, some games for it, and the ability to record game footage and actually knew something about video editing, I would so make 32-bit Gems. Nothing against the Happy Nerd, but we need to show that yes, Saturn and DC had good games, and not everything on PS1 is Final Fantasy/Gran Turismo/Tekken.
But yeah, Gems is the show to watch.
I enjoyed 8-Bits Gems, but I think there are tons of people focuing on 8 Bit already. Plus, if Roo ever runs out of 16 Bit games, he can always go backwards. Hell, I suggested to Pat to become Pat The Snes Punk if he ever runs out of NES games.
I'm very glad I'm not the only one who is getting absolutely tired of these reviewers who just try the AVGN approach because it worked for him. Even James' reviews are starting to bore me, he isn't AS thorough in his research as he would be in some games, half the time it's complaints or outside the game for humor. I like to look back at the games and see the good and the bad, he'll point out a bit of good here or there depending on the game, but overall just bashes it.
8-bit gems collection would be neat to check out as long as it has thorough research and helps people realize what kind of games they missed out on, I also really hope that if you do go about this, to see at least a couple of the games that were talked so negatively by these anger reviewers. I was very glad to run into Roo's Aladdin review that literally put Irate Gamer's review in place which was absolute bull shit. Don't get me started with that guy either, we're all tired of hearing about him anyways.

So I am not the only one that notice that with the AVGN reviews, also I noticed that what he is complaining about is because it's the way he is playing it he just need to take a different approach and the game is not that bad and some stuff he complains about are due to the limitations of that system.

I've also noticed how he would complain about random things that aren't really bad at all, such as the inability to attack while jumping or aiming your gun like in contra. It's getting too stale and repetetive, he's going to lose followers pretty quickly (if he's not already which I also wouldn't doubt at all) in groups at that. It worked for him but he needs to realize that sure it's worked for him but he needs to start expanding more on this. The movie will get plenty of views but it won't hit home like his earlier work, it's become too much like work for him since Screw Attack and Gametrailers want more material for their money, if it weren't for his AVGN, Screwattack wouldn't be as big as they are now. All he has to do is leave and there goes a giant chunk of their members.

Ditto to MALE WHITE MAGE.
There's enough people that do all sorts of retro. I like that ROO sticks to 16 bit (as loosely defined as we can make it.)
