Media Sandwich #2 (with Roo and the Commodore)

The guys from the Armchair Thinkers podcast (which we've been on twice before) have a new show hosted at the Escapist called Media Sandwich.  This is a little late in coming, but the Commodore and I talked to them last month about several things going on at the time, including gamers, charity marathons, and the maturation of the relationship between the two.

We always have a great conversation with Chris and Kyle, so join us for a big bite of media sandwich!

... that was horrible of me, and I apologize.

Dual Podcasts Coming at You!

First up, Commodore and I (Roo) were guests again - along with Derek Alexander, the Happy Video Game Nerd - on the Armchair Thinkers Podcast, hosted by Chris & Kyle (also of The Escapist).  You can find this latest episode, "In Which We Get Super Nerdy", at ideopod.com/armchair-thinkers.  Topics included the Wii U, game companies mistreating popular franchises and fans, and generally how things will never be as good as we’d prefer them to be.

Not long after, I joined SNESmaster & P.K. Sandman from Tales of the Old Gray and Purple Box for another podcast, this more of a straight up interview.  They asked all sorts of personal questions, such as: What are your favorite games?  Is video game memory purely nostalgic?  What's your social security number?  It was a lot of fun and hopefully it'll give you more insight into what makes Clan of the Gray Wolf.  You can find this podcast (Episode 9) by clicking here.

E3 2011: Interviews on Metagame & Galaga Legions DX

We finish up our slate of interviews from E3 by first joining two developers of Metagame - the card game about video games!  Almost more of a social experiment than a traditional game, Metagame results in debates about the very core of what makes up video games.  You can watch the interview and then check them out at: metagame.localno12.com

And secondly, I talk with a representative of Bandai Namco concerning their latest update of a classic: Galaga Legions DX, just in time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Galaga!

E3 2011: Interviews with Danny Day (Desktop Dungeons) and Dan Licht (Silent Hill: Downpour)

Our first interview from E3 is with Danny Day, co-creator of one of the finest roguelikes to come along in quite awhile.  Desktop Dungeons, an independent game that has already received awards and was featured at the Indiecade booth this year, is an addictive jaunt that lends itself well to quick or long play sessions on the PC or Mac.  But what about other platforms?  This info and more in today's interview.

Check out more about Desktop Dungeons, and play a demo, at desktopdungeons.net

Dan Licht, taking over the composing reins from Akira Yamaoka for the latest game in the Silent Hill series (Downpour), also stopped to give an interview at E3 last week.  Licht also composes the musical score for the popular Showtime series, Dexter.

Interview with Reid Young (Starmen.Net)

Reid Young, co-founder of both Starmen.Net (the biggest EarthBound fansite on the web, and creators of the Mother 3 English Fan Translation) and Fangamer.net was good enough to give an interview with me at PAX East.  Watch to find out some little known history behind the fan translation, interactions between Nintendo and Starmen.Net, and his thoughts on why EarthBound endures as one of the biggest cult hits ever.

Interview with Peter Jones (Co-Creator of Snapshot)

The Commodore had a chance to talk to Peter Jones, the Supreme Hero of Business (no really, that's his title) for Retro Affect, creators of the indie sensation Snapshot - a soon to be released game that takes the standard platformer and changes everything by adding a simple but innovative new mechanic, Braid style.  This was one of the most talked about games of PAX East 2011 amongst our group, hands down!

Interview with Kevin of KBAR Apps - Creator of DM's Tracker

Clan, here's an interview we did with the creator of DM's Tracker, which is a great little iPhone app that can help you run D&D games on the fly. If you haven't been to www.kbarapps.com, you might want to check them out.
