Echo Screen #2: D&D 4th Edition - One Year Review

It's been one year since Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition premiered. Now that we've had months to play the game and absorb the supplemental material that's come out since the beginning, what's the verdict?

What worked? What didn't? And did we really need to move on from 3rd Edition? The Commodore, Boomer, and Roo take on these topics and more in this episode of the Echo Screen.

Good review!  Although I disagree with you guys that At-Will Powers are too cookie cutter.  There are 6 or so At-Wills to choose from for each class, and each has a slightly different feel.  How is that LESS cookie cutter than "I swing my sword/axe" or "I shoot my bow/crossbow" or "I cast Magic Missile?"

Likewise, how is that long combat where people are down to their At-Wills over and over more blah than a previous edition character with "I swing my sword?" and a Magic User that runs out of spells?

I personally prefer 4th edition but then again, I didn't start playing until 4th ed and so I have no other experiences.  The main reason wasn't because they where hard it was finding someone to play with.  Even today thats difficult but there is a locale game cafe that I can go to and they have DnD nights.  The owner even has me DMing for him.
