Using a highly scientific (and utterly subjective) methodology, the usual suspects, including the long lost Boomer, rate the top 10 best geek movies ever made... by humans. What is their number 1? Seriously, you two haven't seen The Last Starfighter?!
2001 is a geek movie. One good point for that is that it treats a computer as a character. And only a geek can sit through it.
Back to the Future is great, but it beating out ESB is a little off to me. I'd say "heavenly" is a good word for the BttF soundtrack, actually. Especially since they throw in the visualization of the clouds often when they play it.
The Matrix? Really? I mean it's good, but it's not a "geek" movie. It's a movie that was made for the general public, IMO. Even if it were, it's not better than ESB or even Back to the Future.
What about Dune? I haven't read the novels, but that's a serious geek movie.
