So, I thought I'd make a thread for people to share their favorite funny movies, especially their favorite funny movies that aren't too widely known. In fact, extra points for quirky, out there, unknown movies.
For example:
2 of my favorite favorite movies are?
Heathers: probably one of my favorite dark comedies with probably the bitchiest antagonists, and also one of my favorite high school movies. A girl who half-heartedly tries to be part of the "in crowd" of her school meets a rebel who teaches her a more devious way to play social politics by tricking her into offing obnoxious members of the popular crowd and helping him frame it as suicide. "If you were happy every day of your life you wouldn't be a human being. You'd be a game-show host."
and
Harold and Maude: An awesome comedy revolving around a young man obsessed with death( and faking theatrical deaths,) befriending a little old lady obsessed with life (and liberating random things.) It made AFI's top 100 funny movies list.

I think my favourite less obvious funny movies are (the links are trailers):
Death at a Funeral: The Original UK (2007) Version, not the crappy US (2010) Remake. The US version Does hold fairly true to the original, except the humour is largely 'American' rather than British. That and since they reinvented it using comedians like Chris Rock, and Martin Lawrence there's a lot of that 'black' commedy (no I don't mean that a racist thing, just as a fact of comedy). I prefer the dry slightly subtle humor of the UK version.
Clue: Tim Curry, wonderful humour AND multiple endings? How can you possibly miss with this one?
Bon Cop, Bad Cop: A Canadian comedy that, granted, would loose some of it's humour to the non natives. In fact, I'd say it's less funny if you don't live in the province of Ontario, or Quebec; then even less funny if you don't live in Canada, but It's still something I'd recommend. There are parts in french but they are (of course) generally subtitled.
Men with Brooms: Yeah... It's about curling, but that doesn't stop it from being great fun. Like Bon Cop, Bad Cop; if you're not a fan of curling, you probably won't enjoy this as much, but knowledge of the game isn't really required to enjoy it, as the game is largely explained in the movie. Also much of the humour isn't specifically Curling related as it is sport related.
but I think one of my all time favourite comedies...
The Court Jester: This is a classic, Danny Kaye such a wonderful comedian and singer. Now this is an older film, so one does have to keep that in mind while watching this because of the way that movies and comedy itself has evolved over the years. And if Dannt Kaye doesn't peak your interest, you should at least watch it for the somewhat of and interesting experience of seeing a young Angela Lansbury.

I found a clip of the opening credits of Harold and maude, and it perfectly represents the vibe of the movie. dark weird comedy at it's best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3taMrJZ6p8&feature=fvst
and here are two for Heathers that fit ok, not a lot of short clips of this one on youtube. Nevertheless, best high school comedy. ever.

Empire Records with Warren Beatty as a shoplifter.
It's part of my list of must watch movies for people that work in retail.
Empire Records
Clerks
Mallrats
Employee of the Month
Office Space (this one is more for anyone with a job)
I don't know too many obscure movies, so my list is pretty commonplace, but some of my favorites are:
1) Blazing Saddles: in my opinion the best of the Mel Brooks movies
2) the Life of Brien: all the Python humor without the overexposure of Holy Grail
3) Dogma
4) The Thin Man: this one kind of straddles the line between mystery and comedy, but it has great one-liners and the banter between the two main characters is great
5) The Big Lebowski
Groundhog Day

Rushmore

I'm a fan of Bill Murray...

Totally agree with you on that one. Holy Grail is so overrated. Meaning of Life is just as good.
