So far almost everyone that posts is pretty civil, and only spam has been a problem. The community has grown quite a bit since we first registered the domain as well. We've got about 400 registered users and we're starting to add about 1 user a day.
So, is it time to empower some of Beta Wolves (like the new titles?) with some moderator authority? I don't think we need to limit the freedom of expression so much as we maight need some extra hands to prune the spam, block spammers, and be further empowered as needed as the site grows? If so, are there any nominations? Self-nominations are acceptable as well.
We have not decided to to commit to this, I just want to hear what you guys think.
Yeah seems like a good idea.
And if you guys plan on doing this I guess i'll nominate my self i tend to check the posts a lot and im on pretty frequently.

What kind of guidelines would you like to see?
I was thinking:
Identify spammers, block them, and delete their posts.
And other than spammers, there's not a need for the more conventional "have good manners" type of moderation.

Maybe a report that gets submitted just in case it was unintentional or the people moderating aren't sure.

I was just wondering about abusive behavior, like calling everone a f-ing moron and engaging in posts that stifle intelligent discussion and debate.
Even if I had that kind of power, other than Spam, I would leave final decisions about things like that to Baoomer, Roo, and the Commodore.
I'd be happy to volunteer, I check the site at least once a day - can't see it being a problem if it helps the community grow :)

I check the site pretty much everyday, i also would like to see if there is a spammer, somehow blocking his/her IP address from the site permanently

OK. We've discussed it, and we've decided to implement this. I'll give upgraded account status to those of you above who have volunteered sometime this weekend. You'll get the title of Beta Wolf to ID you as a moderator.
The number one task will be to help us control spam.
As far as moderation of speech, we've not yet decided to take that step and come up with any rules. For now I think we'll let you use your judgemt, have a light touch on the moderation, and just use "Don't be a Dick!" as the standard for forum behavior.
Is that enough guidance or do you want something more concrete to start with?
