Yeah so this was just announced who actually cares this Final Fantasy XIII was in truth not the best im sure that every one knows this, but still enjoyable. The story a mess but did complete it self i dont see how they can continue the story unless they copy from X-2 (finding/restoring lost companion(s)). Any one else have any thoughts about the announcement of this or how the story could work out?

Here's a link to the wiki for some info http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XIII-2

Kinda torn on this. I actually really enjoyed FFXIII, much like I did with FFX. However FFX2 was a HUGE mistake IMO. FFX2 was by far the worst FF I have played and I hope that FFXIII isn't doomed to the same fate.
Hopefully Square learned there lesson from their last sequel. However with that being said, I think the way that FFXIII ended allows for a lot of room on what they can do in this sequel.
Personally I'm more excited for FF Versus : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Versus_XIII which looks really promising.
I think we can all agree that the FF series has always had amazing graphics for there games, however that isn't what brings me into these games, its the Gameplay and Storyline that makes these games for me from other JRPGs.
Just to kinda some it all up, The bar is soooo low for FF sequels thanks FFX-2 that i don't think FFXIII-2 could be any worse.
As far as i know the trailer they showed at their conference lightning was in armor and fighting some purple haired guy. Yeah i agree it will at least be better then X-2 i just want them to change the battle system just because im tiered of it from XIII i liked it but not to the extent to play it again for another 40 hrs. Oh yeah im more excited for Versus and Type-0 than this. If you havent scene the trailer for versus yet its on youtube with actually gameplay footage check it before it get taken down

I liked a lot of things about the FFXIII battle system. It was fast pace, and allowed for a lot of diversity between roles of your party. It allowed for smooth battles, and some pretty exciting fights(although the game it self was pretty easy, some of the extra fights are pretty hard).
If I could change anything about the battle system itself, it would be that the party doesn't wipe if your lead character dies. I think if the party member dies it should either auto switch or allow you to pick who to take lead instead of game over (Much like FFXII) . This is not that big of a deal, but on boss fights it kinda forces you to take the perspective of your highest hp character if you don't want a game over screen from some burst damage.
Another feature that i hope they alter is the weapons. The upgrade weapon feature has been done before, however in FFXIII it is a very long grind to get the best weapon. I had to farm Amatoise for HOURS just to get the money/items needed to upgrade weapons for my 3 characters of choice (Fang, Lightning, Hope). I don't want to imply that getting each classes special weapons should be too easy, but noone wants to grind the same mob for hours to upgrade the stats on a weapon you already have. Kinda off topic rant there, but hopefully that is something they address when working on the mechanics of the sequel.
I want to earn gill from battle too that was annoying and part of the reason that i stopped playing before finishing all the stuff after the main story

Shit shit shit! Now I have to buy a sequel to a game I hated, just because I have EVERY Final Fantasy title. Hopefully I'll like the sequel more than the main game.
To be honest, I'm more excited about Versus than this, though.

Yeah, right after I commented, I went to the tubes and watched the announcement video. The feathers on Lightning are overdone. The costume isn't bad, but that half-Yuna dress looks awful.

Im still trying to get excited about this game. The more I see the more I like though.
One of the biggest complaints about FFXIII was how linear it, the system will allow players to travel through time and space to, in game director Motomu Toriyama's words, "experience many different historical possibilities."
Another feature I have heard they are adding are Towns and Moogles!
That's one of the things I think are not really true. If you look closely to previous games of the series, you'll see that most sidequests in my opinion don't deserve that name. FF XII had the monster hunting, which was really cheap. I mean, just killing monsters number after number without any background story, that's what I'd call a lazy sidequest.FF VII , VIII and IX also didn't have substantial sidequests. I wished they would implement SQs like in Fallout 3, which have a nice background story that makes me want to accomplish all the SQs. I never did any of the "Sidequests" in the FF series because they were always so boring and trivial. Most of the times you had to keep doing the same stuff and it was really time consuming (like the Monster hunting in FF XII). The chocobo hunting was lame, as was the Blitzball in FFX, which was fun for the first hour.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like FF XIII, because it truly is extremely linear, but to say that the other games offered you much freedom is too much I think. They just gave you the impression of freedom, while you essentially had to keep doing the main quest.
I still have FF XIII here, and I just arrived at Gran Pulse, which supposedly is the only chapter that offers you nonlinear gameplay. I was excited about that, but then I read somewhere, that the sidequests just need you to kill sveral monsters. That's when I stopped playing.
I'm interested in FF XIII-2 nontheless, simply because it is an FF game. But I surely won't buy it this time without checking it out earlier. My hopes still lie on Versus, I hope that one will save the FF series for me again.

Ok, so if you don't know who Corperate Service Company is, it's a company Square Enix has used in the past to register domain names for their games.
Square Enix announced at TGS that Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the PS3 and 360 will be available on January 31, 2012 for North America

Well that's a quick turnaround.

FF13 sucked, although in on the same boat as you are, I beat the game, and managed to get 100%. I remember spending hours farming long guis trying to get the mats needed to upgrade all the weapons and finally got all the trophies. After I achieved platinum I never played the game again, its just not for me...
FF13 wasn't that great, and FF14 was just... we all know what happened.
Now that Chrono Trigger is on PSN I might have to replay that, I'm really excited about having a second chance at it.
I'd suggest getting the DS CT, if you can! If not, the only real thing to keep in mind about the PS version....are the load times. Sigh...Also, I think a few sound effects and music sound slightly off. Not so in the DS game though!
One thing I never figured out or heard an explanation to was one sound effect; the sound when Magus casts a spell. In the SNES version, there's the sound, but in every version of CT after that, a completely different noise is heard in all the other versions. Was...the 'wrong' sound somehow used in the SNES version? I find it hard to believe that every other version, especially the DS game, uses the wrong sound somehow. But I've never heard an explanation for it. It's not a big deal really, I just find it weird and curious.

The DS Chrono Trigger was probably the worst of all the re-releases of that game.
As for the music being off, for every 60 frames, it skipped one frame, getting the music off track by that one frame. It corrected itself when the audio changed.

Regardless of the fact that I am a contrarian, the DS Chrono Trigger was terrible. The extra ending contradicts Chrono Cross. The menu is screwed. The game should have just been re-released and not redone in the DS style. Speed up the PS lag issue, re-release the game. Don't screw with anything.

So far it looks like everything from Outfit changes(which will be in cut-scenes, including weapons---- Meh) to Optional content, extra bosses/mobs, exc....
That's a lot of DLC. I don't know how I feel about paying for extra content, aside from expanding side-quests(even then it would have to be a considerable expansion), I wont be wasting my money on different outfits for Lightning .....

Not that much gameplay in here. Essentially this is going to be a save the future time traveling game =x.
I've got to say, I'm definitely more excited about 13-2 than I was 13.
However, if this game turns out better than its predecessor, I'll be highly upset. Why? Because that means this should have been the game FF13 was supposed to be in the first place.
Damned excited.

Thats really really weird for a final fantasy game, but Nintendo Power was before my time and still thats a really just akward going from the Amano artwork.
Oh and you can name him what ever you wish as long as it's under the text limit.

You're missing the point. These companies used to consider that they were trying to sell to a demographic that was completely different than their own. So some things changed.
Now the sell games to kids that will eat up anything with big desu kawaii eyes. I remember when I could play jrpgs and not feel like a pedo.... I miss those days...
At least I can listen to Michael Jackson again without that feeling, zing!
Oh, if you want your eyes to burn look at this shit:
What did they do to Palom and Porom?

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39292/Final_Fantasy_XIII2s_Diminished...
So, the game is out in Japan now, and so far....isn't doing too well. As I've mentioned before, despite what many think about this game's predecessor, it was a multi-million-seller, and according to Gamasutra, "1.5 million PS3 copies in its Japanese launch week two years ago."
Well, this sequel isn't doing nearly that well, so far. Of course, the game was just released, so it's way too early to tell if it'll be an overall bomb or not. For Squenix's sake, they better hope not...

Didn't this game do terribly in Japan opening week?
Comparatively, I guess so. I mentioned that in one of my previous posts! It didn't start out nearly as well as its predecessor did! The game is still brand new, so perhaps it just needs more time.
