So, after Square-Enix announced an updated version of Final Fantasy 5 coming out on PSN. The requests for Final Fantasy 6 started flooding in. In 6 days Final Fantasy 6 will be available on the PSN.
Wow, pretty soon you'll be able to play EVERY Final Fantasy on this console... it's only a mater of time.

EXCEPT im not from Japan so it's not like i can get this any way im better off tracking down a GBA copy.

Oy, yeah, it's about time....
But you know, I'm conflicted about this. The game is available on both the VirtualConsole and PSN, and I'm not entirely sure which one I'd recommend to folks the most. The VC game is the SNES classic we all played. It has a few infamous mistranslations, like 'Vicks and Wedge,' but you know, it's still awesome. The PSN game, a port of the PS version that came with Final Fantasy Anthology, fixes a couple of things that I recall, like Biggs's name, but I also recall some of the sound effects being a little off. I think a few music tracks were also a little off, as well. The game itself is still awesome, of course, but well....if you know what the original sounds and music are, you can't help but notice it, and it stayed with me, anyway.
I guess to anyone who doesn't have a Wii, I'd say sure, get the PSN game. Likewise, if you only have a Wii, get the VC game. If you have both....Hmmm....
I don't know, anyone else have any thoughts about this?

does anyone know if there's any chance of this coming to xbl? i thought square's sony-exclusive days were over
Not likely.
Here's the thing; the exclusivity is over, however, Final Fantasy VI was never on a Microsoft console in any form, so I'd say it's not going to happen. The VC features the SNES version, and PSN features the PS version. Most likely, this has to do with licensing issues, primarily, which is also a reason why GoldenEye on the N64 will never be re-released; it just got too messy. With these games though, it's clear-cut.
So, if you only have a 360, you're out of luck, really. :/

oh wellz.
I suppose what could possibly happen is if Squenix made a special version just for MS, most likely on XBLA. There would have to be some differences in it though; a translation, some added material, etc., and that would probably be okay.
I don't forsee that happening though. That's definitely more the kind of thing you'd expect on PSN, the VC, or even a handheld, a la the GBA version of the game from a few years ago. :/
...or, of course, a full-blown, complete redux of the game would probably be okay, too. I'd just hope that if they do ever do that, it's not an MS-exclusive.

I once said before 'why must all consoles be similar?' To me this is a good thing that previous Final Fantasy games are not available on the XBOX. Besides why must people keep wanting remakes of games even more so for this series.

Well, I'm not personally hoping that this scenario happens, but it's just something I guess could, and probably the only way FF6 could be on an MS system. :P
I've given my thoughts on the redux question before; they keep the classics out there for other generations to play, and to me, that's a good thing. However, in a case like FF7, when so many people are demanding a redux, that I just don't understand, especially when said people are usually so bonkers about the original in the first place. If they love the original so much, what do they want done different, and why? Other than making it look like Advent Childen, in FF7's case, anyway. I...have yet to hear answers on that, really.
As for FF6, I'm not hoping specifically that they ever redux the game, but...if they ever do, I'll at least watch and see where they go with it and what they do, and decide if I think it's worthy or not. I have to admit, I think it could be interesting to see some characters more rendered.

Never say never, Perfect dark was re-released on xbox arcade a about a year ago. It's pretty much a direct port of the first game with some updated textures.
That's a Rare game though, and was probably a lot less sticky to work out. It's not impossible that a version of FF6 could make it on XBL someday, I just don't personally forsee it, is all. :/
