Throughout history, in their greatly varied forms, games have echoed the legends and tales of long ago. Some seem to follow very closely to a single legend or myth's storyline, while others have too many sources to count. Gameplay can take the form of reenactment or represent  a completely fantastical situation - so long as it entertains the player.

Which currently popular legend-based games will stand the test of time and pass on to future generations?

Is there a particular game that you feel represents its pantheon of lore to the fullest effect?

Any other thoughts?

..Er, this probably belongs

..Er, this probably belongs in the actual Video Games thread, non?

Anyway, I.....don't think I can think of anything else that "represents [a] pantheon of lore to the fullest effect." Not really. Like you already said, some series just take elements from certain mythologies and don't really tell the full stories of anything in particular, other than their own in-universe mythologies.

As far as what "currently popular legend-based games will stand the test of time and pass on to future generations," that's probably even harder to say; I really have no idea. Also, how many games series out there right now, especially those that are 'currently popular,' really are based that much around a certain mythological pantheon? I can't really think of any others, especially not anything really 'popular.' Sorry, that's unfortunately the best I can do with your questions, unless I'm forgetting about some series or another. :/

I'd say for me, it's going to

I'd say for me, it's going to be Valkyrie Profile. Unlike the other mediocre MMORPG that got their references(talking about the crap called Ragnarok Online), Valkyrie Profile got many things right.

Sure, they got Frey wrong from depicting him as a female(yeah, I'm not kidding) and the existence of Lenneth(which is of course do not belong on the Valkyries inscribed at the Edda) but over all, they got their reference right.
