Getting kicked from a server for self defence....

I was on this server and all of a sudden this guy attacks one guy then another then me kills me and takes my stuff then later (like a day) i killed him and got some of my stuff back, just still a great loss, then after i killed him i was kicked.

Sounds to me that he was playing an MMORPG when this happened, but to know which kind exactly is rather close to impossible.
