I am a big fan of Fantasy. I've been hardcore on this since my first playthorugh of Final Fantash 4...that being said I feel the following are must reads
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
Elantris by Brandon Sanderson
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
Dark Sun by Troy Denning
The Book of Mallzabran (sp?) by Steven Erikson
Child Theif by BROM
Imager by L.E. Modesite(sp?) Jr.
Malus Darkblade by, Mike Lee & Dan Abbnet
I do read me alot of Star Wars and some other sci-fi too
Darth Bane by, Drew K-K-Kan't spell his list name from memory...he wrote Mass Effect
I can't think of anymore right now, but I'll edit this later when I'm closer to my shelf...

That's going to take a lot of coffee...
In all seriousness, I've never been up on fantasy novels very much. I'm bigger on sci-fi. Well, maybe that and alternate history. But I know Boomer loves both genres, so maybe he's actually read some of these. I'll turn on the Boom-Signal and see if he shows up.

My fantasy has been fairly limited too, mostly Shannara and Pern. I've read Lequin's Earthsea books, and I've loved them all, though her newest books to that world take a more directly feminist voice than previous ones. All my nerd friends swear by Wheel of Time, but I just never could get into them, I don't know if I was intimidated by length, or I was too busy reading Dune at the time.
Well I've read most of the Wheel of Time, but I was burning out on it before the author's death. The whole series is absorbing and imaginative, but really takes dedication to get through such an epic story. Now that someone (isn't it Brian Sanderson? Hmm I just noticed you've listed some other works by him.) is finishing the series, it may be time to pick up from the beginning and re-read.
Dark Sun- I absolutely love this campaign setting. it was the only one I ever purchased in high school. BUT, I was smart enough to stop reading the Prism Pentad after the first book ;P
Brom actually wrote a book? whoa.
*thinking to myself* Looking at your list i wonder if I should actually list all the sci-fi and fantasy books I've read...not sure what that would bring to the clan other than a shared point of reference from my perspective....

Not into fantasy a lot... I can't see myself to read stuff like LOTR, the movies were enough for me. Although there are some good ones out there... I just need to remember which ones =P
Boomer, Book 12 was Epic, with a capital E. I hated where the series as going so much I read the cliffnotes for 11 and went right to 12. funfact: Brandons Sanderson is writing the last 3 book
I've been by the shelf and noted others I wanted to post, will do that later tho.
I'll do that now.
Dark Lord, The rise of Dart hVader. This book vastly changed what I think of Vader.
Legacy of the Force, this was created by 4 or 5 authors, Troy Denning was one of them. These take place well after the founding of the new republic and after the Vong Wars.
The Darth Maul book was great, one laugh after another. I finally understand why Darth Maul could kill a jedi master, but fail on an padawan
I liked Robert Heinlands Orphans of the Sky. It got me interested in this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metamorphosis_Alpha
I do enjoy some of the Vampire Hunter D novels. I think this is what you do to vampires when you see them, kill them.
I have Anathem by Neal Stephson, but i haven't read it yet, I hear he is an epic author.
Same goes for Dan Simmons and Illium
I have more but I won't take up anymore of you time, for now :)
@Airblade
Lotr the books were awful, When I got to the part in the first one where the tree spits out he hobbits because the random singing guy walking down the path told it too, I closed the book, put it dow nand went about my day.
I liked the movies, they got to the point, where as the boosk dragged ass :P
I love Dan Simmons for the Hyperion Cantos, a really great saga. The way he creates that universe is like nothing else. I want a tree ship.
If we're talking about Fantasy books, I would suggest the Codex Alera and The Dresden Files, both by Jim Butcher

no. we're talking about books that I demand rad by Monday....but add Jim butcher to the list, also A Song of Fire and Ice.
The Briar King by Gregory Keyes
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
The Foundation Series by Isaac Aasimov
Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlen (actually everything by Heinlen)
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin gets another vote from me.
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
Startide Rising by Dr. David Brin (Actually any of his books in the Uplift Universe)
The Damned trilogy by Alan Dean Foster

I have a lot to read for my classes.... can't read more :(
That's no excuse. I had to read horrendously extensive and dry military history analyses of strategy and tactics when I was in school and I still managed to read for fun. *cracks whip*

I don't mean to be a weirdo or anything, but reading never really appealed to me. I just always found being out and doing things to be more exciting. I can't also see the world without the TV. Or the internet for that matter. Reading just doesn't seem fun.

Man, could start so many threads from all the series and authors in here, where to start. Boomer, I loved the Uplift War books, my favorite is the first. Heinlein is good, but his later books are just nuts.
I do want to add my love for Ursula K Lequin. I know I've mentioned her before, but I don't think I can say enough. The Left Hand Darkness blew my mind in my teen years.
