I'm opening the forum with a discussion of the iPhone. I love it. I wish I could start my car with it, then I'd only need to carry 1 thing on me...maybe a wallet as well. With Paypal and others getting into "bump" transactions, I might not even need my wallet.

Boomer, I've had my old regular phone for a while, and I've considered getting an iPhone 3G S. My friends all tell me it's pointless and that I should get an iTouch. So, which should I get. (We can even through the iPad in the mix if you wish) Oh, and money is no option here, so expenses won't matter.

I would wait until the 4G iphone comes out...then get the top of the line iPhone.

fuck iphone, i like blackberries more.
I'm not allowed to have an iphone, my wife thinks I won't talk to her anymore. To be fair she's probably right as my dad slips ever further into iphone isolation.
Have you guys seen anything on the Samsung Galaxy S coming out this summer? If only I had a spare $1000...

Oh lord. I think I'll keep away from phones.
The last smartphone/PDA that I bought was an i-mate ages ago (~2003), spent about $1000. It was bad ass for its time, 400mhz processor (Arm7, I think), 128 mb of RAM, Graphics card...I had flight simulator on it in full 3d, looked like the windows 95 Flight Sim if any of you remember it. Best part was that it supported SD and CF cards, I used to bring a microdrive full of movies to watch on the plane with my extended battery expansion letting it run for 9 hours or so. :)
I've been looking at the Google Nexus One, but I've been debating getting any phone depending on how open it is as a development platform.
I agree on the open development platform. Sadly, I'm tied to the AT&T network through work, so my options are pretty much limited to the iPhone right now (which I'm trying hard not to give in to). I'm thinking I'll be able to hold out this summer until the new crop of Android phones finally make it to AT&T and I'll be able to have a better pick of the litter then.

I have to say that I think the iPhone is worthy platform for smartphones and deserving of the praise it's received. As with most Apple products, it's all about the inferface, and the iPhone does not disappoint. That being said, I could spend my life buying overly expensive hardware and tying myself to a horrible wirless network, or I could just get an Android phone . Which I did. :)
Talk to me about iPhone when their Verizon alternative they've announced is released.
And remember kids, DROID* does what iDon't.

no, apple mentioned "no iphone for verizon" and this is because at&t are big meanys :(
(and also iphone 4 came out and there is no verizon iphones)
>implying you can't hack an iphone to work with any carrier
toche
The DROID I was looking at a few months ago had the full touch screen, and a full slide out keyboard (I hate touch screen keyboards and Blackberry keyboards suck.
That's why for now I stuck with my Samsung AliasII . . . that and the $30 data package.
Oh yeah, and I'm a sucker for a dual flip phone.
Well I'm getting an Iphone 4 today... seems like a love/hate thing but I personally need an Ipod,a phone and a camera so it kinda works for me
Is your new icon a picture from your iPhone?

No.Its totally sold out atm in my country :(
The nice lady at the store said that maybe next week.
The picture is from my macbook.
I got it finally! I'm trying to figure it out (my first iphone) but it seems awesome!
arrg double post (sorry)
AT&T bought T-mobile today. So what does that mean to iphone users? Nothing in the short run, but in the long run it will mean a much larger backbone of cell phone towers which will result in better data capacity. So hopefully a year from now iphone data speeds will improve (Im only getting about .25Mbps - .44Mbps DL).
Thank God I left T-Mobile at the beginning of the year.
