Hi guys, I found something in Nintendo Power's 2011 August Issue.

It celebrates the 20th Anniversary of The Super NES and Talks about the games that really defined the SNES. Obvious titles come to mind like Super Mario World, Super Castlevania IV, Loz: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Strret Fighter II,Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and countless others.

But, Lo and behold, the games known to Gray Wolfers as 16 Bit-Gems also have a place here! Games like Actraiser, The Legend of The Mystical Ninja, Soulblazer, The Lost Vikings, and Illusion of Gaia all are mention here. Terranigma is also briefly mentioned as a game that would have bben great if ported to the U.S.

And what's this?! Oh my.......EARTHBOUND!!!!!!!!! Yes folks, even the game Nintendo ignored for so long is feautured here. This renews my hope that these good games will be known by younger and older gamers alike. And if they become more known to gamers in the West, fans will ask for this game to be ported to the Virtual Console.

Not saying It will happen, but itgives me hope in Nintendo that this game could maybe be released for VC.

That is pretty neat, yeah, and it's great to see games like that being talked about, and shown to audiences who didn't experience them. Hopefully, some new folks will become interested in the games and play them somehow! Several of them are probably on the VC, but of course, some like Eartbound are not.

As far as Earthbound on the VC goes, I just don't think it's going to happen, as sad as that makes me to think, and to say. NoA seems determined to just not do it, for reasons they absolutely will not discuss. Although why the game is still not even on the Japanese VC yet is also a little puzzling...I'm not saying fans should give up, just not to get their hopes up.

Yeah, I'm a little saddened about The fact that EB probably never going to make it to the VC. But at least then we can use the big E- " No wait, Commodore, Please dont kill me! I was kidding!"

Yeah, are you crazy?! You

Yeah, are you crazy?! You don't want the Commodore hearing you say that!! D:

Folks can always try to track a copy down for the SNES, or if you know Japanese, Mother 1+2 for the GBA! The music, unfortunately, isn't exactly the same as it is in the SNES game though...

It is indeed sad to think that Earthbound will probably never be released in North America again. Nintendo of America just...doesn't want to do it, and they have never been upfront with fans about it as to why; same with Mother 3. Roo discusses some of these things in his 16-Bit Gems videos, of course. NoA actually blew a big opportunity with 'Brawl; when that game was new, new players were discovering Ness and Lucas (and some perhaps being re-acquainted with Ness, anyway), and well, the demand was already there. They could have fed right into it and released possibly the whole trilogy around that time. Alas, no. NoA even took an extra step and removed the Earthbound demo from the Classics section in 'Brawl. When I heard about that, I knew NoA had pretty much driven the last nail into the coffin; they don't care about the series, don't want to think about it anymore, and don't want to release or re-release any of the games. It just...doesn't make much other sense why they would actually take the time and bother to remove this from the game.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but well, it is a sad story about this series, in North America. I wrote an article about it earlier this year, discussing some of these things, too. And I give Roo's video a shoutout! ^3^

3DS?

I Think i'lll write to Nintendo and Mr.Shiggy about not rereleasing earthbound in the West.  But what I think would be AMAZING is if EB was put on the 3DS with the only real update being graphics (Since we all love EB as it was) I think they're could also be the original and you could choose which one you liked more.

Seriously doubtful, but hey, Ness was voted favorite hero in issue 270 out of all the SNES games.

If worst comes to worst, I'll eventually just see if i can reproduce it on a 3DS cartridge (If Nintendo sends cease and desist, I will ASAP)  The game will come free of charge with an instruction booklet. It could be hard, and I'd need tons of volunteers to accomplish this.

Realistically, impossible. But if my letter to Mr. Shiggy, NOJ and NOA has no rely, I think we should at least think more about this idea.

Call me crazy, but I think it could work. Maybe. What do you guys think?

Well, I'm not sure writing to

Well, I'm not sure writing to Miyamoto would really do any good, since he's not in charge of releasing games overseas; or...in Japan either, really. You'd really have to write to Nintendo of America, and possibly the President, Reggie Fils-Aime. Unfortunately, it seems he's not interested in the series, either...

I suppose if  Nintendo in Japan ordered Nintendo of America to release something here, then they'd have to do it. You could try doing what Operation Rainfall is doing, and write to Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, and express your concern. Iwata could influence, or even order, NoA to release something here, I suppose. Is that likely to happen though? Probably not.  Also, er...can you write in Japanese? I'm not sure if Iwata really speaks or reads English or not...

It's worth a shot, if you want to try it, I would simply advise not to get your hopes up, honestly. I really hate saying that, but well, after all that's happened... :/ I guess you could always respond with 'Never say never, 007', and indeed I am not truly saying 'never'. I'm just not counting on it.

Fans have proposed a Mother series collection on the DS, too, and I agree something like that would be great. I don't think it's...necessary to be on the 3DS, especially given that the DS is still around. Also, I d on't have a 3DS and probably won't for some time, so I...especially don't want this on 3DS. :P Again, you can always send your idea to NoA, or NoJ if you can write in Japanese, anyway, and maybe organize a group of people to do the same thing, just as Starmen.net did, a few times.

As far as reproducing the game on a 3DS card, yeah, indeed that would be hard to do, and I would advise against that.

Thnx!

Yeah, I figured it was a stupid idea. But I should still get in contact with Satoru Iwata and at least ask if something can be done for EB (and Maybe Mother 3 too). It is still probable to put it on DS. A good idea, but It'll be hard to get Mr. Iwata to order NoA. But still worth a try.

Thnx Shiro Wolf!

I didn't say you had a 'stupid' idea! :P I don't discourage fans from trying something like this, especially in regards to making their voices heard. It's just that given NoA's past history with this series, it doesn't look hopeful. But again, you could also say 'Never say never, 007'. Unless, of course, NoA does come out and say never....

I say sure, write to Iwata, and tell him what you think! If you have friends or otherwise peers who feel the same, organize a campaign, and get them to write, too! Again, I'm not sure Iwata will actually order NoA to do anything, but it's not impossible.

Perhaps the main thing that bothers me, and has bothered probably most fans, is NoA simply will not talk about this openly; they will not address fans and their concerns and explain why they're ignoring the issue. In fact, they seem to be going out of their to some degrees to ignore the whole series, which...is a little perplexing. This is also not a good way to treat fans, either, but well, a lot of fans already feel plenty mistreated by NoA...

I'll write to Iwata, but I'll need more than one person. I also should probably remind him of all the Starmen.net petitions and campains.

I don't know; if StarFox ROMS are available on SNES emulators, then it shouldn't be a problem for Nintendo, I wouldn't think.
