When I was younger, I filled my formative reading years with Star Wars novels, so I never got into these books. My wife's been on a Pern kick now and she's gotten me into it. I have to say I've been liking it so far. I've only read the first two books but they've got me hooked. For me its got the right balance of fantasy with the dragons, without having to rely on other fantasy aspects to make an interesting story. Something like that anyway.

Another great set of novels. I think I've read all of them by now...I mihgt be missing a couple of the newer ones. I really enjoyed how the arc of the stories started with high tech decended into low tech, and man's natural curiousity leads them back to remake old discoveries.

That is one of the fun parts of the books, trying to figure out exactly what they were talking about. I don't want to get all spoilery, but I love the names they come up with.
lol, the "e" looked like an "o"...
carry on.
Pern...
Yeah, this topic isn't what I thought it was about. I'm bored with it now.

You know they came up with that name to drag in the adolescent crowd thinking these might be illustrated works.
Indeed ^
You know, they have "Pern" for the blind
