Hey guys. As a big fan of the echo screen, I was wondering if you guys use garageband. I use it myself to use audio for my videos on youtube. And I've noticed that you can publish work on garageband to iTunes. So, do you guys use GarageBand?

Re: Production

Thanks for posting!

Actually no, although one of our first tests was with Garageband because Macs have an innate ability to utilize multiple USB mics simultaneously. Windows (predictably) has lots o trouble without driver help aplenty.

I've used Adobe Audition since it was CoolEdit, and I have to say that if you're going to use a PC, it's hard to beat for audio.

I cannot however recommend Garageband enough as it is a fantastic program for audio editing. I've used it for music creation and other audio applications and I have to say it has incredible functionality along with its "ease of use" factor. Great bang for the buck!

Thanks for listening!

Re: Production

Actually, we tried Garageband a little bit, but wound up going with Adobe Audition, with ASIO4ALL as an additional driver so that we can record multiple USB mics at a time on a Windows machine.

In truth, it's a nightmare to wrestle with, and we've actually lost a couple of podcasts due to recording difficulties, but it's out best option for now.  We've thought about using a physical mixing board at some point in the future, but haven't spent much time on it yet.  If you'll notice (especially during the unedited Star Wars podcast) sometimes the audio skips a second every once in awhile.  That's one of those things we haven't figured out how to fix that maybe a physical board would help.

Commodore, I thank you for posting. :p What is this like your second post? Nah, just messin with you guys. After reading your last update, it reminding me of something. I went to a camp-like feild trip last year. We attended diffrent classes while we were there. I remember one of the counselers teaching classes about tabletop gaming. I somewhat looking like Boomer. I also remember Boomer saying he likes hiking and we did that at the camp, thing. So Boomer, we're you there (in connecticut, Hartford I think?) Then again, we did have a counseler who looked exactly like David Cook. So, maybe I'm just crazy.

What kind of mics do you use to record? What is the price? Do you have the link where you bought them?

We just use Logitech USB desk mics for the podcast.  They're relatively cheap and work well, like much of Logitch's stuff.  You could probably find it anywhere, but I'm always partial to Amazon.
