Re: Puerto Rico

Oh yes! I own that game and I love it. At one of my old engineering firms, we had alot of gamers and we would get together everyday to play Puerto Rico (and other games).

Too bad the Commodore had such a reaction to it...we can;t get him to play after the first time he tried it out.

Is this the next painful memory?

Re: Puerto Rico

What happened?

Did he break out in Kirby-like hives?

Coincidentally, this was posted in the same week that Walgreens started celebrating 50 years in Puerto Rico, so that was my first thought when I saw this topic.

I thought maybe somone in the Clan was going there.

I have heard of the game, but I have never played it.

TommyJames: I highly doubt Walgreens would ever cross my mind naturally in response to the term "Puerto Rico"

I like it ok, but I don't find it the super awesome end-all of games that a lot of people do.  Off the top of my head, I like Settlers of Catan, Battlestar Galactica, Pandemic, and Munchkin more.

Re: Puerto Rico

I meant Puerto Rico as a country is what had crossed my mind.

I was only vaguely aware of the game.

I had just happened to see the 50th anniversary article in one of our company magazines at the store a few days before this topic was posted.

Just coincidence.

Re: Puerto Rico

Hmmm....well Puerto Rico is a little too new for a Painful Memory...on the other hand...it is a painful memory...

Let's just say that even great games can be bad when you don't enjoy playing with everyone at the table.

Meanwhile, Roo we should talk about an idea I have for a couple videos. *wink*

Re: Puerto Rico

The first time i played Puerto Rico i almost won, my tactic was to focus all on getting resource and transfering them to the ship, i got 27 victory points but ended losing in the end when we all tailed up our factories and what not

Re: Puerto Rico

I try different strategies, but I really enjoy the coffee/money/building strategy especially when I can support it with corn/indigo shipping
