2010 Rock Band-a-thon for Child’s Play Follow-up
We would like to thank everyone who helped make our 2nd Annual 1,000 Song (really 1,001!) Rock Band-a-thon a success! Over 160,000 unique views, 81 hours, 7500 viewers at our peak, and most importantly over $3,250 raised for Child's Play. If you missed out on the marathon, you can watch highlights either on our Ustream or YouTube channels. And our ChipIn widget on the right side of the page will be active until the 15th of November. So just because the marathon's over doesn't mean you can't still contribute to Child's Play!
We'd like to thank the following people and organizations who helped make all this possible:
- Child's Play, for lifting the spirits of so many sick children over the past 6 years and helping show the compassionate side of gamers
- Harmonix, for making a series of games that are interesting enough to build a whole marathon off of
- The 6 members of our core group, who rocked on with very little sleep for almost three days, especially Michael, Jeremy, and Matt
- Our special guests: Sue, Drew, Mike (another one), Matt (another one), Jessica, Liz, John, the Cisco kids, and Ashley, who came in to play some songs and spell the rest of us. Whether it was for 1 song or 40, you helped take some of the pressure off
- Doc Pepper and Enigma (from XNO), Cin Wicked and The Shades (from Geek Fighters) for helping spread the word - extra props to XNO for featuring us all four days!
- Dane Byers, for lending us high quality audio equipment that brought up our production quality
- David Anderson, for hosting our website not only for the marathon, but since its inception
- Ustream and their helpers, who hosted our stream and helped out with technical issues when we needed
- Nerd to the Third Power (especially Cat and Tatch), Gizmodo, GameTrailers, Paheel, BrentalFloss, Blair Herter, and all the other websites and blogs that helped spread the word
- All the chat room folks who kept us going and handled the common questions that people would have while we were away from the chat
Keep on nomming!

Roo, Commodore, and Boomer!
Tip my hat to you guys, what a fantastic effort :) So happy to have been a part of this and been able to make a donation to such a good cause! Whether it was Commodore belting out song after song and tugging on the heart strings with his intense energy or Roo's many (totally awesome!) PBS moments and ceaseless enthusiasm, or the immense comedy and wit of Boomer on the mic doing his best Tom Hanks impression it was all top notch and I'm proud of everyone involved from start to finish. There really was far too many great moments to even begin to mention them here.
What else to say but, you guys rock!! From song one to one thousand and one it was really rather moving and knowing that you guys were operating on so little sleep and playing that game over and over and over again (not that you need reminding of this seeing as how you lived in mere hours ago, haha), but I was really impressed. Nicely done gentlemen!
You've done the rock gods proud and done a lot to help sick and hospitalized children the world over.
Much kudos!
~ A big fan
Roo, Commodore, Boomer and Friends-
Such a fun time! I'm proud to say that my first Rock Band-A-Thon experience was a great one! I loved being able to make donations to make you guys do a group hug, or sing Poker Face (I also got a free request in the begining, I don't think you guys noticed)
I loved the endless amount of humorous moments. Whether it be Roo's hillarious dance moves, or any of some your funny singing. Also, I always enjoyed when Boomer answered our questions in the chatroom. Also, making Roo give people High Fives was fun
Oh, and Commodore, I found a video of you singing, you need a record deal:

Lastly, thanks a TON for choosing me as the winner for the last contest, I'm so excited to get Beatles Rock Band.
Omnomnom,

Nom nom nom nom, nom nom nom. Nom nom nom nom, nom nom nom. Nom nom nom nom, nom nom nom.
Nom.
I just want to thank you guys from CotGW and all folks from the chat, for the fun and epic moments! That was an awesome weekend, and make me feel good and also gave me hope of better things to come in my way. You guys! You are heroes, for us and for this kids!
I'm a new fan of this group, and so happy for this! And also proud of be part of it. And it is priceless!
the marathon was fantastic, but i think you should change some of the video descriptions you have on youtube as they say you can only donate till the 7th (like the Bohemian Rhapsody video).
I also want to let a note:
Please, think about the possibility of open talk with us. A webchat to discuss geek thinks, or anything else the chat allow to.
Thanks all for your support. We had a great time and really appreciate the donations to Child's Play, not to mention the moral support you all gave.
And funny you should mention that guithegood, a live show is something we discussed right after the marathon ended...
Do you guys have any recorded video of Commodore singing Mr. Brightside?
Cool guys! That will be totally cool! I'll be there for sure!
