Oh man I love this game but I have this one memory of it that made me so mad. After beating the game it told me to try again and Robotnik was juggling around some shiny things. I then thought that if I could find them, I could get a better end or unlock a new level or character(s). I was looking far and wide for these when I found out after hours of trying to find these damn things that they were in the special stages. After trying the game one more time and getting all the shiny things (which I then found out were Chaos Emeralds) and beating Robotnik one last time, what do I get?
Sonic just uses them to make flowers....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! I spent a week of playing this game just to get a crappy ending like that! Man, what a waste. I bet it does the same thing in the other 2 games, so I'm not wasting time. And people complain about the new Sonic games so much?

My entire childhood was Sonic frustration.
The copy of Sonic 1 I had crapped out one day for no reason.
I couldnt get past the second stage in Sonic 2.
And I saved up my allowence for a month to get Sonic 3, just to find out that I didnt have enough.
Man, Sonic ruined my childhood. lol
U had a genisis as a child and the only game I had for it was Sonic 2. After a vast ammount of time playing that game I could get as far as the airship, but that was about it. To this day I've never beaten it and only seen the boss a handful of times due to cheat codes.
That boss battle was bull!@#$ :P
Oh god, I do remember exactly the feelings the OP felt upon reaching the end of Sonic. I was super pissedtoo! The way his fat ass juggles those around in your face....oh god...I am still raging!
I got my copy of Sonic 3 out of a bargain bin at Wal-Mart.
