No, but if I heard right, you'l be getting new ThunderCats on Cartoon Network soon.
And how could you possibly improve on Voltron? You know any movie they would make will be a blasphemous disaster AND full on rape of the canon.
yeah, but the A-team? G.I Joe? Smurfing Smurfs?
Why no Voltron love?
Have you seen the cast for The Smurfs?
Holy crap this is gonna be funny.
They got frickin' Wolfgang Puck!
lol
Anyway, with a December 17th release date, expect a big merchandise tie-in push shortly after school starts.
I'm seeing Halloween costumes.
Hopefully better than mine from back in the day. :P
Of course, I just checked IMDB and there is a Voltron movie in development for 2011.
Just be patient.
And apparently, there is a ThunderCats movie in development for 2012.
both of those movies have been in production hell for sometime tho...much like the devil may cry movie which has an approved budget with no director or script...
....I don't know if Voltron would make a good movie, in all seriousness....Maybe that's why plans for one were eventually scrapped...If they made it animated, it would be better, but it would be such a niche movie that it likely wouldn't do well. It's not impossible we'll see one, but don't hold your breath.
ThunderCats would...also likely not make a good movie. I'm just....not convinced. I'd have to see it to believe it, but I'm...not sure I'd want to see it! But yeah, we are getting the new TV series, so if that helps renew interest in the property again, we'll see.

The thing about a new series, movie or what-not, is that you have the ability to establish new canon.
Besides, Voltron never was that great anyway. Neither was Thundercats.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the idea of a Voltron or ThunderCats movie, the concept isn't what the movie fails or succeeds on, it's the quality of the end product. And it's not like either idea is terribly complicated that you can't make the origin story into a feature-length movie. Here I'll demonstrate:
Voltron: Futuristic kingdom under attack from an alien race. The native forces are being pummeled, so they look into alternate methods to fight. Look back into the history-turned-myth, legend of Voltron, etc. Special unit formed to investigate the existance of the legendary feline mecha, command unit being the first to be found since it's been at the castle the whole time. Initial unit begins to turn the tides of battle, encourages them to find the rest, big bad sees that conventional troops are failing, green lights special measures. Closer examinations of the myth reveal clues to find the other lions, they find green, yellow and blue relatively easily, but indications red are in a volcano, slightly less accessible. Climax of the story, reveal of the robeast as the main enemy, 4 lions struggle to hold it off, red shows up as the shit hits the fan, big Voltron reveal, FORM BLAZING SWORD! Win. Sets up the story for a new audience while slowly introducing new elements, and of course you can't bring in Voltron till the end cause as soon as the sword comes out the fight is over. Only real guidelines you need to follow.
Unfortunately I wouldn't hold out much hope for anything that's been in development for too long, it usually comes out as a half-assed, confusing mess from lazy rewrites and generally poor quality.
I'm looking forward to the ThunderCats cartoon, the animation looks pretty sharp, like Avatar: the Last Airbender quality. Seriously though, it's cat people with swords fighting a mummy monster, dare I say, how could you possibly fuck that up.
" Seriously though, it's cat people with swords fighting a mummy monster, dare I say, how could you possibly fuck that up."--- Oh there are plenty of ways. Let's just hope it doesn't happen. :P

....so, uh....there is talk of a Voltron movie again, and it has producers and script writers. Huh.
That's all there is to say about that right now though, but if you're interested, watch for news on it!

Well, a quick check on IMDB states that the writers are the team that did a couple average films back in 2005, and are now working on big films like the new Conan, Uncharted and Doctor Strange movies. Well the movie should be watchable at least. I should send them my plot synopsis, all they need to do is fill it in with some techno babble and some Princess Allura fan service and you've got a summer blockbuster!
The new Conan trailer looks awful. I do not hear the lamentations of the women when I watch it.
