Couple of things first: I

Couple of things first: I used to be a substitute teacher. Every time I was in for a specific science teacher, I had to show a lot of those old PBS specials she'd recorded on VHS. And I saw a lot of them. She had breast cancer, so she was out a lot. One, in particular, I remember had Alan Alda judging a robotics competition and he was a participant in a cross-country solar car race.

As for YouTube poop, this is one of my personal favorites.

Nickelodeon used to have a show that most accurately represented my personality. Its title was Doug.

Why Doug? He was a young, aspiring writer. Had a strange family life. Liked a special girl. Had a bully. Friends who were worth it. He was desperately trying to fit in. He did a decent job of it, but still had his little fantasy world.

At least I didn't say Legends of the Hidden Temple (which I was on when I was younger).

Hmm...

For me, it would have to be Are you afraid of the Dark?

Why?: Well, one major reason is just the fact that it's dark: I'm very cynical, and my sense of humour is generally quite dark

Another is that it's about being creative, and telling stories. I generally write four or five plots ready for any of my games at a time, along with two fan RPG's,  as well as my reviews/top 10 lists and a short story I'm currently writing. I may not work on them as quickly as the people in this show do, but I feel I am still creative.

Finally, the most minor reason: They're all fans of Psychological thrillers or horror stories. Iam too. Enough said

At the risk of being called

At the risk of being called out for copying Mr. K, I'd have to fill in the blank with Doug as well.

Aside from being an extremely relatable "Peter Parker" type character, Doug spent alot of class time doodling (Quail Man) in class or at home.   I love to/still draw cartoons to this day!  Seeing Doug's day dreams totally hit home for me while I was also going thru middle school.

With my obvious answer out of the way, I must also add 'Nick Arcade' as a second blank filler.  I would wake up a little after 5 am just to catch the end of 'Mr. Wizard' and then Nick Arcade!  I would have to contain myself from making too much noise during the final round so that I wouldn't wake up my parents.

RESPONSE

To make this clear i was able to see quite a bit of the old Nick show as a child back in 1990's but i missed a huge chunck of them so my answer would have to be from more of a newer show

I would have to say that no Nick show represents me.

Most the the shows i watched were mostly just to watch because i could laugh at it with out really caring what was going on to much aside from avatar i really cant remeber a show on nick that actually had a story that  wasnt restet every episode it had a continuity.

But i can't use avatar even though i did really enjoy it because i watched it not because i found some kind of bond with any of the charaters i watched for the art style the story the fact that it didnt seem like it was an american cartoon and the story not because i found some way to represent my self with it.

So again my answer is that not one show on nick can represtent me because i either missed most of the early show and that i really cant find a show on nick that can acuratly represent me do to the simpilisty that made them great just to sit there to watch avatar excluded.

Copy Cat

Man, I am SO disappointed you didn't say Cartoon Network, because then I could write a 20 page essay on my personallity and overall mental state.

But you didn't so now I have to think of a nicklodeon show.

I was going to say spoungebob, but then Mr. K mentioned Doug, which is a show I completely forgot about. I haven't seen that show since i was five.

So I went back and watched a few episodes of that and now I'm gonna go with that.

I chose douge mainly because I could instantly tell we had similar personalities and the way he thinks of everything in a Walter Mitty sort of way like I do. With his Quailman and stuff.

I have this thing where I have a journal and I write everything that happened that day but I change something, like I describe everything like we were all dogs, or if it happened in the 17th century, or I was a video game villian. And I would create all these alter egos like Doug does. (Maybe I should have put THAT as my guilty pleasure.)

For me Doug is one of the most identifiable cartoon charicters ever.

So Doug: I CHOOSE YYOOOUUUU!!!!!!

I don't know if you'd

I don't know if you'd consider These 'PBS Specials' so much as childrens series that aired on PBS, but these 3 were my favourites:

Want to know? Well if you do, you're going to have to be subjected to the opening theme:

Third Favourite
Second Favourite
Favourite PBS Series

That order is of course based on how I liked the series, not the themes.

As for this weeks wringer...

Nickelodeon used to have a show that most accurately represented my personality. Its title was Rocko's Modern Life.

Rocko's a loyal friend who oftens winds up in uncomfortable situations, Also despite being a fairlt hygenic person tends to have problems maintaining his home ¬.¬ All far too familiar.

It had some seriously great scenes, and a few that only really got aired once or twice before seemingly disappearing from a given episode. I think this was one of the most memorable ones.

So they were out camping and Rocko found these berries!!!

The place where I grew up did

The place where I grew up did not permit an accessible broadcast of Nick's cartoons nor did many other companies have direct access to the domestic market. We had satellite instead and we tended to focus on receiving channels from Europe and hence I rarely saw anything produced in North America.

So yeah, no answer from me on this one. :/

Its title was The Adventures of Pete & Pete.  I was always=ays that weird kid concaucting weird schemes and plans and just a weird little kid in general. I had a friend who was a year old two older and he was my sanity anchor to pull me back when ideas got too crazy. Like te time I tried to make an escape zipline from my room to our swing set for when i git sent to my room when I was in trouble... it didn't end well.

Regarding soap operas I don't

Regarding soap operas I don't watch them, watched one out of boredom (can't remember which one) and it took over a week for events to happen that was suppose to happen in 5 minutes.

This week's Wringer I been thinking of this and can not name any show on any network.

It's vs. its, Commodore.

It's vs. its, Commodore. ;-)

I knew I forgot something! When I first saw your video last week, I didn't write anything right away because I couldn't think of an answer better than "Powerpuff Girls," but I don't really even like it all that much. On the other hand, I'm not really guilty about any of my pleasures. Sure, I collect game and even Star Wars soundtracks, but I've gotten over being guilty about it. Heck; even if I did LARP, I don't think I'd feel guilty about it at this point in my life.

As far as 70's and 80's PBS movies go... I was looking the other day for a movie I had seen as a kid about ants. I wanted to see how my interpretation of the movie had changed over the years, and if I could dredge up any interesting memories. I eventually somehow found the title and watched the movie on YouTube: "Phase IV." On the last video, someone commented about an old PBS movie called "Lathe of Heavens." After checking it out and seeing that it looked good, I watched it with a friend. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. It was thought provoking and kept us guessing all the way through. Even my friend and I came to different conclusions as to the meaning of the film. It was an adaptation of a book, but even still it must have been a difficult book to adapt. I think PBS at that time was a fantastic channel that encouraged artistic expression and experimentation, and really concentrated on enriching its viewers. Definitely nothing wrong with liking those movies.

Thanks for the Darkon suggestion; it sounds like a movie I would like.

Nickelodeon used to have a show that most accurately represented my personality. Its title was "The Adventures of Pete & Pete." I kinda have conflicting aspects of my personality. Not like a syndrome or anything, it's just something I'm aware of about myself. One aspect I might call unrealistic faith in myself. Pete & Pete want to believe in Artie; that he's the strongest man in the world and that he will save them from any troubles they might have. And Artie does absolutely everything he can, but often there is little if anything he can do, and sometimes he can't even help himself. He doesn't care what society thinks; he only does what he thinks is right. This is the part of myself that truly believes I can do the impossible. Another aspect I might call socially dependent. Although the "Artie in me" really is capable of being alone without any hardships, my social aspect cannot. My social aspect craves acceptance, perhaps even to the point of wanting that so much that I'm not *really* looking for the person who is right for me. This social aspect is on one hand cool and well-liked, but on another hand confused and alone. I also think that eventually I'll have to choose between those two personalities, and that's kind of represented in the sadness or bittersweetness that pervades the series. Pete & Pete also shows that most of the beauty in our lives is not something grand or epic, but ridiculous, personal, and inane.

Whoa! There's a Pete & Pete episode named "The Nightcrawlers." I wonder if that's an aspect to why I chose my name that I had forgotten. http://youtu.be/3a3WIDnXvHI

The show most like my personality

I really want to say Mr. Wizards World because I like trying to figure out how things work, but...

Nickelodeon used to have a show that most accurately represented my personality. Its title was "You Can't Do That on Television"!

It's not because I like gross humor!!!  I enjoy making people I work with laugh or at the very least, chuckle or groan.  I try to stay away from topics that will get me fired, so I go with non-sequitur humor from "out of left field" or play on words with a dry delivery.  When you get past the "barf" jokes and people getting slimed, word play and bizarre humor you don't always see coming were at the heart of the show.

I had no response for last weeks ringer.  While my interests may not be common knowledge, I have no problem telling anyone who will listen what they are.

So I have seen all the WW's

So I have seen all the WW's and I joined a bit before the last one aired I think, IDK, sometime before April first. I was gonna comment on the last WW but I had this idea that I would post my answer to ALL the WW's.. unfortunatly that was much harder than I thought to actually find them all, and if I just find the question I ussually don't remember what my answer was or really any examples and my brain wasn't working at all. So I said forget about that! And just decided to post here as my first WW!

First off though is last weeks, just wanna mention that since it is still fresh in my head (Just watched it yesterday) I don't really think I have any guilty pleasures, but guilty wants. The things that arn't accepted as normal (besides anything video game related, because then I don't care about anyone else) However I will say that I do have a few that would be guilty pleasures if I actually did them, I'm scared of my brother coming in or something lol. Like Anime/Manga, there is a kid at my school who loves Manga, she reads it while the teacher is talking and stuff, she is dumb, and kind of smells, and noone really likes her (Maybe some kids from other classes IDK) and she even tried to start a Manga club, she had a poster in the lunch room and got an announcement on the morning announcements. I don't know if anyone came, the poster was removed and there was only one announcement. I remember everyone at my table making fun of her.

*Now for a Scrubs styled what would happen joke*

(Ninto is on the toilet reading Manga) "Oh yeah! Kick his ass Bo-Bo-Bo! (Dad walks in) "NINTO!" "CLOSE THE DOOR! CLOSE THE DOOR!"

I used to watch Anime and so did my brother a friend of ours, we would all come to our house to watch new episodes or Naruto. I even watched Naruto into Suppuden on crunchyroll.com in japanesse. Stopped watching after a certain character died, not because I was sad, I didn't really like him, just the 10 episodes of sad shit got boring. Although I really loved Zatch-Bell and Bo-bo-bo more (And some One Piece but not as much), even if I didn't watch them as much. I never did see how Zatch-Bell ended (I think it went off air before the finale, IDK) Should watch Zatch-Bell again...

Anyway, back to this week (sorry for the long rant, get used to it if I stick around) I was born in '97, and I wasn't really aware of the world until 2001, before that I just watched Dragon Tales, Blues Clue's (my favorite back then, I even had a red chair I would sit in when I watched and I had a notebook and took notes, but I don't remember it to this day) and Rugrats (Which I remember in more detail, having watched a few episodes a few months ago) but I can't really thing of any Nick shows that I related to. I was mostly a cartoon network kid, and my favorite shwos were Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy, and Courage the Cowardly Dog, but I didn't relate with either of them (One of them is about 3 kids trying to make money for jawbreakers, and the other is about a dog who lives in the most unluckiest town ever) These days Cartoon Network just makes me cry, Destroy Build Destroy is about kids building and destroying shit at the command of some guy who looks like he spent his last 5 years in jail. Although I don't watch much TV besides the more 'adult' shows (by that I mean teenage shows that just refer to themselves as adult liek Family Guy and South Park) and internet stuff if that is TV, but I do love to see some classic Nick shows come on I love like Invader Zim or something, but I don't connect with an alien trying and failing to kill all humans. Since I wasn't around during what most of the users are mentioning I do not know if I relate to anything like Doug or something.

If you did not read my huge post of nothing, the only important part to this weekly wringer was that I did not watch Nick and wasn't alive in the good days so I don't have an answer. Takes me a novel to say "I dun n0"

Whoops!  I posted about 'Nick

Whoops!  I posted about 'Nick Arcade' without the decensy of a clip of some sort.  I suppose it actually is a relatively obscure show in this day and age so you all a deserve a taste.  Here's the intro:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkAFnFp1DNw

This show was amazing!  It was a game show for kids that was very similar to 'Mario Party'.  Kids answered questions and competed in original or current video games for points.  The winning team then took on a "Video Master" on a green screen (but if you were like me you thought it was real) for the final round.  The final round was extremely intense, because the kids had to watch another screen off camera to see what was going on.  Kind of like a weather man.  It always causes you to scream at your television.  Here's an example of the final round (sorry for the quality):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RyNz-8JGNQ

Bottom line:  Other than 'Doug', this show totally describes me and every video game obsessed kid in the 90's!

Jimmy Neutron. Pretty recent

Jimmy Neutron. Pretty recent I know, but I did relate a lot to Jimmy. I was the short, smart kid in class (not to brag), and was totally awesome. Al kidding aside though, I think this was the show I related to the most. Unfortunately it got stale as it went on. Another show I watched (just for randoms sake) was Code Lyoko on CN. That show was amazing! But the way they ended it sucks. It's still very awesome. My avatar is actually the teaser poster for it back when it was titled "Garage Kids".

I remember Nickelodeon. Had

I remember Nickelodeon. Had Are You Afraid of the Dark. Psycho-horror told by kids? Yeah, that was me. I think I have a scrapbook of badly written Dark Fics somewhere, if it didn't get buried in the move.

I still read a lot of fanfiction, but I'm certainly not going to write any. But yeah, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was one show I watched. Didn't remember it being a Nickelodeon thing though. Probably because it ran on YTV (I lived in Canada during my teens).

Of course, YTV also ran Beast Wars and ReBoot, but that's a different rant.

hey arnold

Hey Arnold! is my answer.

Especially in my case. I'm 23 and still living with my parents. Not too fond of them, but after recently graduating, it's pretty much living in a two story apartment with neighbors you can't stand.  In the end, the best thing Arnold could do was turn on his headphones and pretend like he's somewhere else.

There are other aspects in play here. I have a "Ruth" type person I like.  Even a Helga. Although she obviously wouldn't be teasing me and knocking my block off, just disagreeing.

Everything is more symbolism than anything, but Arnold's situation, values, friendships,  and attitude mirror mine pretty well.

I at first considered Doug...with the daydreams, writing, etc....I believe we all have a lot of Doug's traits in us. It was such an identifiable personality for boys our age.  It still is.

nickelodion had

Nickelodeon used to have a show in the early 2000s that most accurately represented my personality Its title was invader zim:

i will get to explaining how it reprisents me but first i must say something. as you said with spongebob and the muppets they made it so it was enjoyable to kids and adults but to me invader zim for example ren and stimpy was absolute randomeness and people loved it for that however there were a of things that made it dated.invader zim on the other hand had very little connection to the modern times (being set in a not so distant futre or something) but what made it extreamley funny is the creator liked to have a bit of dark humor to the show like for example: there was an episode where zim (one of the main charicters) was sending rubber pigs back in time  (pigs were also a bit of a running gag of the show in a way the creator had wanted to be as random as possibe)though object replacement so that dib ( another main character who is zim's antaganits as well as zim beeing his) would get killed and thoughout the episode you see how the pigs cause accidents that ruin him untill he dies but gets revived by his father in some sort of mech suit witch results in zim sending a note on a pig back in time to himself not to use the machine but it gets swapped with his brain (btw there is an episode where zim and dib slowley turn into meat) and it was great because the creator and the writers new that kids were not stupid and they wanted them to appreciate more mature humor and i highley suggest watching these episodes you can get them on dvd and on itunes or if your feeling cheap go on the internet it has realy high reveiws.

anyway it reprisents my personality like how i love telling jokes that are a little bit dark or extreamley random and i like comparing things to pigs but the most important thing was the creativity and i think that was most important in any personality or tv show.

(and if you wont mind mentioning this in ther next wringer i have a little thing to say about some of the rediculesness of larping commodore, in my city there is a larping group that larps to oregon trail and im not making this up and im talking about the computer game for the apple II  not a reanactment its insane and how they do the hunting is hilarious but ill save that for another time : )

I'm so old

Now, I don't know how many other people round here grew up on the frozen east coast of Canada, but out there we had a different sort of cable networks and such and such.  As such and such, we only received these Nic shows when they were broadcast on other networks, and those tended to be the ones that cost extra to get.  Why am I explaining this?  Mostly because my answer might not make sense in relation to the rest of them.

The Cartoon they had that was most like me was Invader Zimm, which I'm pretty sure they produced.  Broadcast.  Whatever.  Why?  Because I'm small and green and have a robotic dog. (Jk: I'm pretty tall.)  Seriously, I loved this shows sense of humour, which ran very parallel to my own.  It was frantic and insane and never really backed down from it's delivery at all.  If it went too far, well, that was your opinion, but it never strayed from where it was coming from.  Maybe that's not exactly like me, but it's definitely a quality I respect, be it in people or in art.

Megajs - Good call on the episode, you made me want to watch it, but I can't.  Now I'm sad. Thanks a bunch.  =->

And you realize it's you civic duty to record those people LARPing Oregon trail and post it, right?

My favorite quote from that show (And the only one I can reliably bring to mind) "You made the fires WORSE!" "Worse?  Or better?"

Doug

Doug was the 1st nick show that popped in my head after hearing the statement to fill in for. This is mostly due to the main (and titled) character being kinda similar to myself when I was watching the show or the reruns because I recently moved to a new town and of course new attended a new school and had to worry with how easy/hard its going to be to make new friends and get use to things. Also like Doug I'm a bit shy/quite and that doesn't help things sometimes but also have a somewhat active imagination though I don't think I saw myself as a bird themed superhero (or at least didn't have a belt on my head). Also like Doug after getting use to new area and have some friends things kinda level out to some forms of normality.

Not really the shows as such,

Not really the shows as such, but I kind of relate to the characters of Tommy Pickles from Rugrats and Arnold from Hey Arnold.

For the most part, Like Tommy, I calmly assess what's going on around me and look for the best solution to problems, tasks or situations that present themselves to me.

Like Arnold, I was (and still am) oblivious as to whether or not there were any girls in school that were interested in me (I am still leaning towards there being none).
