We all know it true: Video Game will pretty much never get good movie adaptations (although the Metal Gear Solid movie had me interested til it got canned). But what video game do you think could possibly set the bar for bad video game adaptations?
I think maybe Asteroids...wait, that actually is being made ._. Anyways, I guess maybe wacky Japanese games would make a terrible American movie. I can imagine it now: SUPER MONKEY BALL THE MOVIE.
Maybe Tetris.

Oh yes! I remember trying to watch that. I honestly feel like FFV never needed a sequal. Though, this was barely based off FFV. I do however think a prequal to FFV would work out good since it feels like there things in the game that haven't been explained yet. A prequal that has the Warriors of Dawn sealing Exdeath for the first time would be awesome.

I don't mind when Hollywood makes vidoe game movies...but when Uwi Boll gets involved..well I'll just stay at home.
The problem is finding a way to make a movie that a wider base wants to see while staying true to it's fan base.
Case in point the Mario Movie: Everyone knows who mario is and would love to see a movei, but those that don't really care about games haveto have another reason to want to see it...so they make some werid sci0fi movie that has little to nothing to do with the games. At least it had Dennis Hopper...

To be honest i also liked the FF Movie`s. Advent Children was lacking story and personally i did not feel the need to do a sequel to an awesome game like FF7, but looking at it as a standalone action fest, it was good. I thought Spirit Within was also a very good film, seeing it as a movie, not an game adaption. I simply dont get why producers cant bring out a movie that essentially devlivers what games do. Limited arsenal of weapons, the feeling of game "levels" ( you know, 1. jungle , 2.facility etc...) , an exact retelling of the story ( by that i mean if the story`s dumb and told in 5 lines, hell leave it that way) and having the essence of what the player`s doing in a game. Most movies want to tell the story more wisely as the game, but hell, i did not play it for the story a lot of times.
Worst movie adaption i could think of?... R-Type with immersive Characters. Hell that would be shitty.

@Mr.K I have heard of it but haven't watched it. I was just rereading about it online, I didn't realize Funimation did an English dub. Part of the reason why I haven't looked for it was because I thought it was subbed. I guess its been long enough since the last time I played the game to warrant watching it, I hear its almost a scene by scene retelling.

I was thinking more like the game, but either way the plot would be bad.
Super Monkey Ball actually had a story and everything, you were put in the environments accordingly to the story and just put puzzles for you to solve in order to advance. But of course Hollywood just couldn't make it a good movie. Sonic Team made a good movie, they're great with the cut scenes as well, it's just the actual GAMES they need to get their shit straight in. Sonic the hedgehog movie was really good (Animated as well which Mario should've been).
Isn't it funny how they will try so hard to put a story behind a game with just about no story at all? They need to realize a Street Fighter MOVIE (not like the last two poor attempts to bank on the leading characters people loved like Guile then Chun Li, fuck heads) should just be about Ken and Ryu, training their asses off, then Akuma's take in the story, killing Gouken, then they take him down in a classic street fighter brawl. They can go about that and expand into Evil Ryu, or perhaps just be M. Bison hosting a tournament and actually BE A FUCKING TOURNAMENT, have non-stop action and you don't need much of a fucking tournament. Then M. Bison fights Ryu who beats the shit out of him. The End, funny how they can't figure that out! Doesn't take back story, Street Fighter already has a HUGE fan base of all ages. Not this whole, let's-make-it-as-realistic-as-possible-bull-shit.
Now... I believe something like Contra would be fucked up, well... it'd be more like a combination of Aliens and Captain America to be honest, lol. Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo Kazooie, Crash Bandikoot, Spyro, Pac-man, Road rash, Primal Rage (BBC TV series doesn't count), Ghosts n Goblins, Epic Mickey the Movie (just redundant after that, lol), Kirby (even though the games rock, the movies if made by HOLLYWOOD would SUCK). Tetris, Pong, any of the old Atari games like Pitfall and Swordquest, etc. I would like to see Zombies Ate My Neighbors but then again, it's still Hollywood we're talking about here.

I'd actually pay money to see any of these movies made by The Asylum. Not a lot of money, but some. They have either exactly the right or the wrong amount of talent to make movies that are so bad they're entertaining in that MST3K way.
