I'm from the Philippines. Where being trendy and being "in" is the name of the game.

The Philippines cool.  I've always found interesting that your official language is not spanish yet your names or at leasts the ones I've read about are in spanish.

Well, the fact that Spain takes us under their wing for more than 300 years would definitely influence most of what we had today, then you're right.

But, dude, Philippines is not cool. I live here, I know the culture here and it disgusts me, knowing it and seeing it myself. Imagine being a nerd/geek/dweeb/dork/otaku as a fashion statement and it's "in" because the celebrities said so and the TV show "Glee" said so.  Call me an anti-Filipino, but I could say, Mark Twain was the same with the Americans during his lifetime.

Well after you said you were from the Philippines I started reasearching some stuff and I found that our countries share quite a few things.     I never knew Mexico and Philippines were so connected by trade and cultural exchange when both were colonies.   Hence the "cool" in my post.   

Yup, the famous "Acapulco Gallon Trade". But, it's not just Spain that influenced our culture, but also the Chinese before and during the Spanish occupation. After that, we've been handed over to the Americans, then got invaded by the Japanese, which contributed to our society.

I'd be one of those Canadians that are infesting the site. ;p

I was born in Austria but now I live and work in Poland. It would be great if there would be a voting, so we could get a better overlook of how many people are from where.

Not sure if the forum software can make a voting poll thing.

I don't think this one can, but it would be something to mention in the site section, and ask if it's a feature that could be incorporated here!

I lived in the North shore area of Massachusetts until I was around 18, then I moved to Denver, CO (or Denvah as I occasionally call it,) for school and am still there.

Love being near the rocky mountains, but I miss the ocean. and weird New England slang. It's wicked fun :P

I grew up and went to school in Frankfurt/Oder, which is in the very East of Germany. Then I moved to our capitol city Berlin, lived there for about 5 years, before finally moving to Münster, on the other end of the country, 1 1/2 years ago.
